SG Code, is the unique reference number of a land parcel, almost like the ID number that every person is issued with.
A Surveyor General Diagram is the fundamental registerable document prepared by the land surveyor. This document consists of very essential property and land information.
This information includes the unique designation of the property;
An illustration showing the property.
Boundary description.
Listing the corner beacons and the details of any curvilinear boundary.
Descriptions of the corner beacons.
A table listing the numerical data of the boundaries and the size of the property.
A search for a full title stand or should the stand be in an estate may yield diagrams showing the layout of stands in the entire estate or part thereof. You can then zoom and pan the diagram to view a specific stand. Such diagrams will show the dimensions of every stand in the estate or section thereof. There will also be a table next to the diagram, or on a separate page, listing the stand numbers and their areas in square metres.
SG (Surveyor-General) diagrams, for all surveyed or developed land parcels in South Africa, are available free of charge on the Chief Surveyor-General’s website, http://.csg.drdlr.gov.za
